You do not... I see nowhere was it posted that you need to ?

If you want to take a hog that is different and other rules must be followed.

All of this hunting talk is the wrong approach. I propose FPFD or Feral Pig Field Day. All hunters of small and large game along with the varminters and the tactical shooter types take to the field and locate the pigs and eliminate them. Drive them out of the pockets of habitat and exterminate. Repeat as necessary.

I still think too many are applying the sporting aspect to these things. There is something in all of us that feels the need to be sporting as we take the field. We would have to abandon the values and morals taught to us and think about killing something just to kill it. This will allow the pigs to succeed in their survival instincts if we don't change our approach.

The thought of unloading a hi-capacity magazine into a herd without picking a humane kill shot is unconscionable by most. I have seen others disparage the night hunts on this board and the repeated barrage of shots to take out as many as possible while the herd scatters.

These aren't game, they are vermin, not different than mice or roaches. Unfortunately as the herds grow there will be profit derived from guided hunts that will also prevent their demise as long as a dollar can be made. A serious and focused approach has to be made to rid the state of these pests.

stepping off of soapbox...

Good night.

Fly hit it pretty solid. I live in texas (37 years a michigan resident) and even with the population problem here: they still make tons of money on these pests. They know too well a pig lease is worth almost as much as a good deer or dove lease. heck: just a day unguided hunt is in the hundreds with no guarantees. Some places charge a guide fee and a hog price per pig. People just have the desire to shoot one and will pay it. Private property and limited places to hunt for free drove the cost skyward. Michigan is set up in exactly the same way.
Put a dollar value on anything and watch how well it is protected. These things are nothing to "let grow"... !
I've killed a bunch and absolutely love to do so. It's costing me good money to kill "vermin"..!

Right on guys I feel the same way lets get rid of them before we can't. Only one problem, those of us that are new to the cause need the assist on finding these vermin! I have time to do so but could use some places to try with out stepping on "toes" Gladwin sound hit or miss like they not thick enough in number to be pinned down. I live in Saginaw and help out in the Flats with woodchucks and trying coyotes. PLEASE HELP with possible locations I am willing!

Need help. I have heard conflicting opinions and I would rather not waste the work for a poor meal. A group of family hunters are taking my son, Hunter, on a wild pig hunt on a ranch in the thumb for his birthday. The plan was to have his party the next day and bbq the pig he shot. Cool idea, but would this be a good idea for a fairly large group of family members and the pig being the main course? Please help...
Thanks, Orange Crush by( faceman 19)
